The province is reaching out to citizens in the Peace region, and all over Alberta, seeking input on auto insurance reform.

According to an e-mail from the Department of Finance, Alberta has the third highest vehicle insurance rates in the nation behind Ontario and British Columbia.

The province has an online survey available to ask residents 17 questions about auto insurance.

The government has a three-person advisory committee that was formed and is led by Chris Daniel, who according to the government has over 35 years experience in the insurance industry.

“As we review Alberta’s automobile insurance system, we are asking Albertans, service providers and other relevant stakeholders to be part of the potential solution,” says Daniel.

“A thorough understanding of consumer and industry needs will help ensure our recommendations to the government are realistic and reflective of the marketplace as a whole.”

A doctor and a lawyer are the other members of the committee.

The survey will be online until March 6, with the committee set to deliver its final recommendations to the government by June.
